has been a very enlightening course.
The Value Based Healthcare Delivery (VBHD) course at the Harvard Business School, sponsored by the Partners Centers of Expertise (COE) provides a unique opportunity for healthcare trainees in the Partners system. Particularly, the course, which features case based discussions, highlighted important cases in value based healthcare delivery. For me, the course was quite impactful – I learned the power of integrated practice units, utilizing and collocating a number of complementary services not centered around traditional departments, but rather on disease states. As I move through my career, with an interest in implementation science and care delivery, I hope to utilize these principles, and help to create true centers of excellence created, by design, to be patient centric. I hope to be a leader in developing such centers, in such a way, as they organically grow, they morph into learning health systems in which new learning are efficiently incorporated in care pathways. I highly recommend the course to all housestaff with an interest in optimizing care delivery for the future and am immensely thankful for the opportunity to have participated!
